How and When to Use Feedburner

Feedburner is a site that will create an RSS feed for your site.  You might say doesn’t my site already have an RSS feed, and what’s wrong with that one.

All good questions.

If you notice some sights have more than one different RSS feed ~ when you click the orange icon in the address bar you have a choice of 3 sometimes even 5 different options for RSS. Feedburner will create one feed that will replace all the options.

Feedburner will also provide you with q...

Using Free Ad Blogs to Promote Your Site

There are sites out there that will allow you to write a blog post on their site promoting whatever it is you want to promote.  For free. I call these sites free ad blogs. They are popping up all over the place these days and they are an excellent place to build links, and if your site isn’t already help it get indexed.

The point of doing these free blog ad posts is to have another opportunity to point some links at your site using your keyword anchor text.  Which means you nee...

Using Zimbio to Promote Your Site

Zimbio is also a social platform you can use to promote your sites.  It is actually an online magazine where everyone can contribute.

There are a couple ways to contribute to Zimbio. You can simply enter your RSS feed and your blog posts (which are called articles on Zimbio) will be pulled into your account for you.  You can use any RSS feed you have to add to Zimbio.  So in addition to your site feed url you might add your Ezinearticles.com feed, the feed from any free ad sites you...

Stumble Upon for Promotion

Stumble Upon ~ most have heard of it, many spend tons of time lost in stumbling, me I spend a few minutes doing what needs to be done to promote my sites using Stumble Upon.

If you aren’t familiar stumble upon is a bookmarking site that is completely unique.  You install a toolbar, and then you can browse sites already submitted to Stumble Upon. You give them a thumbs up or down rating or skip to the next site.  The way it is designed people do NOT stay on your...

Using Clip Sites to Promote Your Site

If you haven’t heard of a clip site ~ it is basically a bookmarking site. However, instead of bookmarking the url of a site you can grab a paragraph to use as the bookmark.

A couple of these sites are clipmarks.com and clipclip.org.

They both are very similar. You dowload the button in your browser toolbar. When you are ready to clip something you simply click the ...

Using Twitter to Promote Your Site

The goal today is to tweet your site or post. This can be done in many different ways.  How you use twitter will depend on the type of site you have.  Let’s go over a few different ways.

How to tweet your site:

1. Tweet it yourself. Go to twitter and post a tweet about a site/lens/hub whatever you have done or added something to.

2. If you are using squidoo you can add your twitter username to your profile and squidoo will tweet it automatically f...

What is Twitter?

Let’s start with a fun little site called Twitter.  You can’t go anywhere now without hearing twitter ~ even evening news shows have a twitter page! If you don’t have a twitter page, you probably should.  I am not a huge proponent of social networking for traffic, but Twitter is different, twitter is responsive and can be a great place to meet other people, as well as drive traffic to your sites.

A little bit about Twitter.

Twitter is a socia...

Beginning the Promotion Process

This first step is designed to get your site indexed, if it isn’t already, and to help you start getting traffic to your site.

In this first step we will be employing some techniques from social networking as well as building some links. There are a few parts to this step and I will outline them each individually, however, I wanted to give you some basic information about indexing so you would have a little understanding of how and why we are doing this step.

I don’t...
